The TDI Advanced Nitrox course covers the use of Nitrox from EAN-21 through to 100% oxygen. The course trains divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures for the use of this gas for dives not requiring staged decompression.

In isolation the course has some benefit for research diving but has the greatest value when taught in conjunction with the TDI decompression Procedures course as this open up the use of accelerated staged decompression.

Prerequisites
1.     Minimum age of 18 or 15 with parental consent
2.     Must have a minimum certification of Nitrox diver.
3.     Must provide proof of 25 logged open water dives   

Course Content
The course involves both theory and practical sessions.

Theory covers:

Basic physics and physiology of diving as it relates to the optimum use of Nitrox.

Equipment considerations for high oxygen content mixes.

Nitrox mixing techniques. Note this is an introduction only and doesn’t qualify the student to mix Nitrox.

Dive planning with particular emphasis on the management of oxygen explosure.

Practical sessions:

4 dives are required in which divers demonstrate:

·         appropriate buoyancy, trim and finning techniques.

·         Appropriate use of twin tanks, including manifold drills and emergency procedures.

Equipment Requirements
Standard dive equipment with cylinder and regulator properly labelled and cleaned as required for the EAN mixtures.

Course Structure

Theory sessions can be conducted over a full day. 4 dives are required over 2 days.

Numbers of Students

The maximum number of students per course is 8. If you are interested in a course and there is nothing scheduled get together with a few buddies and a course can be organised around your preferred dates.

Course Combinations

This course is a perfect companion course for the TDI Decompression Procedures course. Together the courses allow for staged decompression using high oxygen content mixes potentially allowing for a significant reduction in decompression time. When run together 6 dives are required.
